Looking Forward to 2011 Season

On May 2nd, the season opens, and over 200,000 9-16 year olds from over 55 countries will explore the topic of food safety.  Food safety has become an important national
focus. Each year, approximately one third of the U.S population has mild to severe illnesses caused by pathogens in food - and more than 5,000 people die from them.  Our robotics and research challenge will be on the topic of improving the quality of food by finding ways to prevent food contamination.  Learning food safety science will enable us to better understand decisions and practices that may affect our health.  It will be an encouragement to step up to the plate, and take an active role in preventing foodborne illness.   Through this season's challenge our team will again design, program and build a robot for the robotic challenge, and explore the possible points of contamination our food encounters to find innovate ways to prevent or combat these contaminates.
